THE PROGRAMME
Empowering rangatahi through employment, education and community
Tupu Rangatahi exists to provide youth with their first work experience, training and pathways to employment.
Tupu Rangatahi is designed for rangatahi Māori, Pasifika, Refugee and migrant youth, aged 18–24, who are currently engaged with youth development programmes, early intervention services or community support organisations.
It provides a pathway into employment for young people navigating challenges such as housing instability, disengagement from education or other barriers that can make entering the workforce more difficult.
Rangatahi are referred through trusted community partners to participate in a 11-week, paid, work experience programme.
They will then gain work experience within multiple industries, recognised certifications and valuable life skills in a supportive environment.
By the end of the programme, they are equipped with the confidence, capability and pathways needed to move into employment, further training or education, while strengthening connections to their whānau, hapū and communities.
